Vodoun Rythms

Here is a great resource for Vodoun drum rythms.

There's bits of singing in some pieces too. In case you find it hard to reconstruct, how it works is, there's a basic rythm, eg. Babul and a break, eg. Babul Kase, that is executed at crucial moments, called "Kase" (cah-SEH), or "broken" in a Haittian/French creole, presumably. It's a bit like the riff/chorus RnR structure. Although a bit more minimal- they play the main beat over and over for hours. The goal is, to drive you out of your wits, quite frankly. Check it out.
