Big Mouth Strikes Again...

I like that. It's so Farhneit 450. You know, where every opinion group has the power to lobby against the opinions that they don't support to be eradicated. Despite that, there is a part of the public (albeit, not the American public, but, then again, CNN news is accessible to many more publics than just the American and that gives at least the opportunity, if not the right to non-American citizens, like me, to form an opinion, again, of how accurate the coverage of the latest American geography class is. Was.) who would not find it completely absurd for the US army to shoot journalists.
There is, for example, that incident of the tank that fired a big fat shell at the Palestine hotel (in Bagdad) where all the non-embeded journalists stayed during the first weeks of the war on Iraq (and where a cameraman and a reporter of the Spanish TV where killed, by that particular tanks' shot.) And a general feeling that American soldiers would not hesitate to shoot non-embedded journalists on sight (which is one reason why in this war you could practically see the "POST" signs worn by armoured cameramen on every side of their flack jackets, from deep space, without a radiotelescope.) And the fact that the numbers of journalists killed in this war is triple or more the numbers usually killed in other wars (and that the American army openly declared that they wouldn't let the press lose them another war, like in Vietnam, is no insignificant coincidence.) Or the case of the cameraman who was shot because a US soldier thought the thing he was pointing at them was a weapon (which of course it was, but you would expect the primitive, underdevelopped Iraqis to mistake a media weapon for a machine gun and, in any case, fire blindly when anything is pointed at them by anyone.)
Now, don't get me wrong. I don't like journalists. They 're at a position to fuck the truth both sides and they do it every time, anyway. And this particular one, does deserve to be fired, no questions asked. A little objection though: fire him because he didn't have the gus to stick by his original statemen (yes, I bet my ass it was exactly as it first came across, that US soldiers shoot journalists or practice and fun). Not for the original statement itself.
